ABOUT Mennonite Urban Ministries

Mennonite Urban Ministries (MUM) was founded in 1970 to provide support to those who were in need in the church neighborhood. Mennonites have had a long history of rural ministries to their own and their neighbors. The idea of an urban ministry was new at the time. Many talented people were part of the creation and development of the organization. The focus of MUM was internal. Helping Mennonite churches in the front range to learn, understand and implement urban ministries of their own. MUM has achieved this and now sees an opportunity to focus outward. Rather than merely offer material assistance to the greater communities that we are a part, there is the chance to present ourselves and witness to the power and path of God.

The Mennonite project of bringing the Reign or Commonwealth of God requires Mennonite communities that discern and model God's plan for each other, but also to be a witness to the world. To help coordinate and raise the profile of Mennonites and Anabaptists in our greater communities MUM is now embarking on a new mission. One that involves creating facilities and projects that implement this new vision and mission.

Currently this means raising money. The new campaign is for facilities. MUM will continue the Joseph Storehouse campaign to preserve the gains of its previous mission. Please give generously and remember our project in your thoughts, actions and prayers as you are able.

2008 Organizing and Capital Initiative

Your donation will help establish a physical ministry center: an address where Anabaptist ministries in the urban region may locate and collaborate

Joseph Storehouse

Your donation will help fund ministries at our member churches. The money collected in December and January is used to offer starter and partial operating grants to these important urban ministries at various Anabaptist churches like your own. In the spirit of barn-raising and helping each other at harvest, we collect our surplus and share these resources for the good of all.
